Purpose

This meeting is held in honor of Stuart Pittel's influential contributions to nuclear physics on the occasion of his 60th birthday. His contributions involve both large and small scales, ranging from large dimensional shell model calculations (DMRG), simple models (IBM, neutron-proton interactions, shell model), the relation between the two (mean-fields and boson mappings) and issues as fundamental as the origin of deformation and shape changes in nuclei. At the meeting recent developments in these fields will be discussed from both experimental and theoretical points of view. Attendance will be limited to 80-100 participants.
