VI Mexican School on Gravitation and Mathematical Physics:

"Approaches to Quantum Gravity"

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico,

November 21-27, 2004

Second announcement

The Gravitation and Mathematical Physics Division (DGFM) of the Mexican Physical Society (SMF) is organizing its Sixth School.  As you may know from the first announcement, the web page of the school is http://www.nuclecu.unam.mx/~gravit/EscuelaVI/, where details of the venue, accommodation, program, and registration can be found.

We would like to call your attention to two important points:

1. The early registration deadline is on September 17th, 2004.  After this date the registration fees will increase by 20%.

2. There is a limited number of rooms in the "Iberostar Paraiso Beach" hotel, venue of the conference, so please reserve a place as soon as possible if you are planning to stay there.

The main subject of the school will be on topics related to current approaches to quantize gravity: loop quantum gravity, strings, and non-commutative geometry. Even though these approaches share the same goal, the basis in which they rely on and the ways they tackle the quantization of gravity are conceptually and technically very different. As a result there is a richness of viewpoints on the subject.  The aim of the Sixth Mexican School is therefore to present these different viewpoints on quantum gravity, including their most recent theoretical results and the way in which these approaches attempt to get closer to experimental predictions. In addition, during the school we would like to discuss fundamental issues which are still open, such as problems in classical and quantum physics related to the quantization of gravity, and the unification of the fundamental interactions of nature, among others.

The scientific program includes six courses, eight plenary talks, and five short talks.  There is also time for thirty six parallel talks of twenty minutes each.  Space will also be available for posters throughout the week.  In addition, there will be a discussion panel on the different approaches to quantize gravity and related issues.  Further details are found in the web page above.

Looking forward to seeing you in Playa del Carmen.
